CHILDCARE MINISTRIES
PLEASE CLICK HERE TO PAY YOUR TUITION OR REGISTRATION FEES First United Methodist Childcare Ministries has several different options for children in our church and our community. For more information about any of these ministries, please contact Katie Allen, Director of Childcare Ministries at 336-753-1900 or katie@firstumcmocksville.org FUMC Preschool Ministry offers classes for children ages 2, 3 and 4 years old. We offer Weekday Preschool from 9am-12pm and have classes that meet various days during the week based on the specific class. We open our registration to our current students in February, and then following that, we open our registration to the community. If you think you may be interested in enrolling your child in our programs, we advise calling as soon as possible to get on our wait list. Fun facts about the preschool: First UMC began offering weekday education to children in the community in the 1960s by providing a weekday Kindergarten class. When the state started their own Kindergarten program, First Methodist Church began the Weekday Preschool. When the preschool started, there was 18 children in one class. During the 1980s, 30 students attended two separate classes, and the preschool now serves over 60 children in the church and community. FUMC After School Care Ministry began in 2014. The program started in an effort to meet After School Childcare needs for church and community members who needed a place to send their children for the afternoons. We currently serve students from Mocksville Elementary and South Davie Middle School (school buses bring children to us). We serve 20 children ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade. We provide an afternoon snack, homework help (most homework if not all homework gets done at ASC), devotion, play time, outside time, arts and crafts on special occasions, partnership with church members and Davie County 4H, service projects at church and more! We have a very dedicated and committed staff that serves the families in this ministry. Fun Facts about After School Care: When we started in 2014, we only served K-5 and in 2015, we added middle school to our program. We are a tight nit group and the kids we serve are like brothers and sisters. It is incredible to see the bonds that have formed and to watch the kids grow! FUMC Summer Day Camp Ministry began in 2015. The program offers very flexible options that are weekly (part time or full time attendance is determined by the number of days a child attends per week). Each day we offer lots of faith and fun through memory verse mania, praise and worship time, camp meeting, devotion, arts and crafts, science, indoor and outdoor play, games and more. Breakfast and lunch as well as an afternoon snack are all provided. Each week we offer trips to the park, library and an off campus field trip, chapel, and more. We serve children in Kindergarten to eighth grade and have a highly qualified staff that includes college students, current school staff, and retired school personnel. |
